Darke REC Geothermal Rebate Program

The installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system with backup electric resistance heating components in a residential home that uses electricity from Darke Rural Electric Cooperative can qualify for an $800 rebate. The system may serve either a new or an existing structure. If you are interested in installing a geothermal system and wish to qualify for the $800 rebate, please call the cooperative office for an application and list of requirements.

Darke REC Dual Fuel Rebate Program

Darke Rural Electric Cooperative members can qualify for a rebate by installing an add-on electric heat pump that can heat and cool their home while saving money. Members will receive the $600 rebate if they install an add-on electric heat pump unit to an existing fossil-fuel furnace. Please call the cooperative office for an application and a list of requirements.

Darke REC Water Heater Rebate Program

Darke Rural Electric Cooperative has over the years found that electric water heaters have been an appreciable share of our electrical load and are the type of load that can be controlled to help avoid peaks in our system demands. In an effort to continue the promotion of the use of electric water heaters and to require our members to permit us to install a radiocontrolled switch on all new electric water heater installations, the following rebate program will be in effect. Qualifications: Any member of Darke Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc., who purchases a new electric water heater and installs a radio-controlled switch (RCS) for the first time on a new 50-gallon or larger electric water heater with a 6-year warranty will be eligible for a rebate. The water heater must be installed on Darke REC’s system.

Rebates:50-70 Gallons - $200 Over 70 Gallons - $300

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6-year warranty
  • Minimum of 50-gallon capacity
  • Minimum of two inches of foam insulation (approximate value of R-16). The use of an insulation blanket will not qualify for the R-16 rating requirement.
  • Maximum heating element size of 4,500 watts.

Call the cooperative office for a water heater rebate application if you are installing a new water heater with an RCS.

Every year when we check our meters we find there are some meters that we don't have access to. For safety purposes, we must have access to every meter on the system. If the meter at your location for one reason or another is not accessible to Co-op personnel, please call and let us help you to determine the easiest way to move it. If your location is on the list to have meters checked and we can't get to it, you will be receiving a letter on this matter.
