Hart wins honors in OREC scholarship competition

Lane Hart of Tri-County North High School and Elizabeth Heitkamp of Versailles High School represented Darke Rural Electric Cooperative in the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives (OREC) Scholarship Competition, May 12 at the Villa Milano in Columbus.

Lane won top honors and a $1,000 scholarship in the Darke REC scholarship contest, qualifying him to participate in the OREC contest. He then received sixth place in the OREC contest, winning a $1,200 scholarship.

Lane, son of Thomas and Tammy Hart of Lewisburg, will attend The University of Cincinnati studying information systems and international business.

Elizabeth, daughter of Gary and Denise Heitkamp of Versailles, won $1,000 in the girls’ division of the Darke REC scholarship contest in April, allowing her to compete on the state level. Elizabeth will attend The Ohio State University this fall majoring in agricultural communications.
